The Pocket alternative from Switzerland

Mozilla shut down Pocket in 2025. With mainsite you move your saved links including tags in two minutes – free, no ads and no tracking.

From Pocket to mainsite in three steps

  1. Find your Pocket export. When Pocket closed, you could download your data as a ZIP file. Inside is a CSV file, usually part_000000.csv. Search your downloads folder for “pocket” or “.csv”.
  2. Create a mainsite account. Free – just a username, email and password.
  3. Upload the file. Under Tools → Import bookmarks, choose the CSV file. You'll see a preview of all links and tags – nothing is saved until you confirm.

Titles, addresses, tags and the original save date are kept. Links you already have don't come in twice.

What mainsite does just like Pocket

  • Save in one click – with the extension for Chrome and Edge, or by pasting the address. mainsite fetches title, description and icon automatically.
  • Organize with tags – a link can have several tags, no folder mess.
  • On all your devices – computer, tablet and phone, in any browser.

What's different – honestly

  • No reader view and no offline reading. mainsite opens the original page. If you mainly want to read articles in peace, you'll miss that.
  • No recommendations. mainsite doesn't show you other people's articles – only your links and collections you choose to follow.

In return, mainsite does things Pocket couldn't:

  • Share collections – with selected people, via link or publicly. Others follow and see new links automatically.
  • Find dead links – mainsite checks your links regularly and shows what no longer works or has moved.
  • Private notes on every link, stored encrypted.
  • Live search across titles, addresses and descriptions as you type.

Frequently asked questions

Are my Pocket tags kept?

Yes. mainsite reads the CSV file from your Pocket export and keeps titles, addresses, dates and tags. Links without a tag get the tags “Imported” and “Pocket”, so you can easily find and re-sort them later.

What does mainsite cost?

Nothing. Account, import, saving and sharing are free – no ads and no tracking.

Is there a reader view like in Pocket?

No. mainsite is a bookmark manager: one click opens the original page. In return you find every link in seconds, organize with tags, share collections and see which links no longer work.

Does mainsite work on iPhone, Mac and Android?

Yes. mainsite runs in the browser on any device. On your phone, add it to your home screen and it works like an app. For Chrome and Edge there is also an extension to save with one click.

I moved from Pocket to Raindrop – does that work too?

Yes. Export your bookmarks from Raindrop as HTML or CSV and upload the file to mainsite. Raindrop collections become tags, your tags stay.
