Import bookmarks from Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari
Your bookmarks – Edge calls them favorites – are stuck in a single browser. With mainsite you have them on all your devices, in every browser, neatly organized with tags. Moving takes two minutes.

How moving works
- Export from your browser – every browser saves its bookmarks as an HTML file (instructions below).
- Upload to mainsite – under Tools → Import bookmarks.
- Check the preview and confirm – you see beforehand how many links are new and which tags will be created.
Export bookmarks from Google Chrome
- Menu ⋮ at the top right → “Bookmarks and lists” → “Bookmark manager” (or Ctrl+Shift+O, Mac: Cmd+Option+B).
- In the bookmark manager click ⋮ at the top right → “Export bookmarks”.
- Save the file
bookmarks_….html.
Then upload the file on mainsite under Tools → Import bookmarks.
Export bookmarks from Mozilla Firefox
- Open “Manage bookmarks”: Ctrl+Shift+O (Mac: Cmd+Shift+O).
- At the top “Import and Backup” → “Export Bookmarks to HTML …”.
- Save the file
bookmarks.html. Firefox tags are kept on mainsite.
Then upload the file on mainsite under Tools → Import bookmarks.
Export bookmarks from Microsoft Edge
- Menu … at the top right → “Favorites” (or Ctrl+Shift+O).
- In the favorites window click … → “Export favorites”.
- Save the file
favorites_….html.
Then upload the file on mainsite under Tools → Import bookmarks.
Export bookmarks from Apple Safari

Safari Bookmarks.html.

Why online instead of in the browser?
- The same everywhere – work computer, laptop at home, phone on the go: the same links.
- Switch browsers without losing anything – from Chrome to Firefox or Safari? Your links stay on mainsite.
- Tags instead of folders – one link can belong to several topics, and live search finds it in seconds.
- Sharing – collections for family, team, class or club; others follow and see new links automatically.
- Find dead links – mainsite regularly checks which pages no longer work.
Frequently asked questions
Do my bookmarks stay in the browser?
Yes. The export only reads them – nothing changes in your browser. You can use both side by side.
What happens to my folders?
Every folder becomes a tag. A link in the folder “Music › Synthesizers” gets the tags “Music” and “Synthesizers” and can be found via both. The browser’s own folders like “Bookmarks bar” are dropped; links without a folder get “Imported” and the browser name.
Will links come in twice if I import again?
No. The same addresses are recognized. Existing links just get the new tags.
How many bookmarks can I import at once?
Up to 10,000 links per file. Before anything is saved you see a preview with all numbers and tags.
Can I get my data out of mainsite later?
Anytime. Under Settings → “Export my data” you get a bookmarks file that any browser can import again – every tag becomes a folder.
